Guiberteau and germans harvesting

Domaine Guiberteau during World War II

In 2011 Robert Guiberteau told me the story of his remarkable parents and their experience during WWII.  Their hometown of Saumur was captured late in 1939 and Robert’s father was sent to a farm east of Berlin where he was forced to work out the war.  It was an honor to sit with Robert and document the story of his family.  It’s easy to see from where Romain’s intelligence and dilligence comes.

Here is one of the pictures from the newspaper story telling of the visit to Domaine Guiberteau by the family of M. Guiberteau’s German “hosts”.
