What is Grenache? Winemaker Eric Texier talks  about this red wine grape.

Across the board, the wines share a sense of balance and a layered and luxurious mouthfeel that is slow to reveal all of its component pieces.  “Equilibrium” is a word both Karen and Emmanuel use regularly to describe both their vines and their wines.  “Le Rouge” is  Grenache based, but has a darker streak than any Grenache we’ve seen outisde of Châteauneuf-du-Pape thanks to the unique volcanic soil on which it grows.

The stars of the Languedoc, Syrah and Grenache feature prominently in the wines of Domaine Bourdic, but both are blended in surprising ways. “La Sentinelle” is largely Cabernet Sauvignon, while “Zappa” is a blend of Syrah and Grenache supported by old vine Tempranillo, something we had not seen anywhere else.

Rhone Valley

The Domaine des Cèdres Côtes du Rhône is the vast bulk of the production.  Dominated by Grenache with Syrah and a bit of Carignan, the wine is like a favorite t-shirt or a comfortable pair of jeans: it might not be the cork you’ll pop when you invite the Queen of England over for dinner, but it’s a wine we open the way we reach for old jeans on Sunday morning or when going out to a local dive bar on Wednesday night.

Over the past few years, Rhone varieties have crept into the fold, first with Syrah and now some Grenache, both of which are featured in the Dry Rosé.
