| It has been twelve months since Don Helfer last stood on the back of his truck sorting his aspect of the vineyard in hopes of growing the best possible fruit. The romance of living in wine country and growing your own wine is real, but it is often misunderstood. It is a romance that comes from hard work, study and an understanding of natural cycles. Tasting rooms are nice, but the real story unfolds at seven on an October morning when the entire year's efforts come to a head. You can only arrive at this point having worked your tail off. This provides a good look at the extensive bird netting that the Helfer's have installed above the vineyard. |
