When The Wine Doctor, Chris Kissak, first came across Muscadet he was under the impression that the region was primarily of wines that are made in bulk and express very little about the area they come from. It is a misconception unfortunately most people also have. However, he grew to realize that it is a place that produces some fantastic wines. From his piece on Domaine de l’Ecu, Chris credits much of his appreciation to vintners such as Guy Bossard.
For reasons why we so enjoy quality Muscadet, Chris tells the tale of Guy Bossard’s success as a fifth generation farmer and winemaker in the Muscadet who has been running a successful biodynamic farm and creating wines that represent the terroir of his plots in Sèvre et Maine. He goes into detail about Expression de Orthogneiss, Expression de Granite, as well as his NV Brut Sparkling Ludwig Hahn. Don’t miss the reviews he has made on each from their current vintage as well as a few vintages prior reiterating the consistent quality of Guy’s wines.
Along with his other posts, his full article on Guy Bossard is worth the read. Read Here.
